v * A = 2000 * 8\1000 = 16kva.

For a 300 MW steam turbine, Generator output is designed 353 MVA and transformer is designed for 370 MVA. Why are generator and transformer rating different?

All electrical devices that supply power are usually rated in kVA. This includes transformers, UPS's.

V2*i2 = kVa.
So,
2* 8= 16 kVa.
Ans:- 16 kVa.

Why transformer's rating is in Kva and not in Kw?

In the question, it is said that the load current is 8A and the secondary voltage is 2KV.

We know that the kva rating of a transformer remains constant be it in primary side or secondary side.
so,

V1*I1= V2*I2.
V2 = 2KV,
I2 = 8A.

KVA rating = V2*I2.
= 2*8 kVA,
= 16 KVA.

KW = KVA,
P= VI.
KVA rating = 2*8 = 16 KVA.
