This answer is wrong because for step-up transformer turn ratio a<1, for step-down transformer turn ratio a>1. The turn ratio is N1/N2, answer is 0.2.

TURN RATIO FORMULA=SECONDARY TURNS(N2)/PRIMARY TURNS(N1).
SO, VALUE OF N2=2000 AND VALUE OF N1=400.
=>N2/N1
=>2000/400=5. THIS IS ANS.

Turn ratio is define as ratio of turns of wire in the primary winding to its secondary winding. So Turn ratio = Np/Ns => 400/2000 = 0.2.

The answer is wrong there is a difference between the turn ratio and transformation ratio.

So, the Answer should be 400/2000= 0.2.

Solution:

No.of turns in the primary (N1) = 400.
No.of turns in the secondary (N2) = 2000.
Turns ratio(K) = N2/N1 = 2000/400 = 5.

This is wrong because turns ratio different from transformation ratio.
Transformation ratio = k = n2/n1.
Turns ratio =1/k=n1/n2.

Turn ratio =N1/N2 and transformation ratio=N2/N1.
Turn ratio=400/2000 = 0.2.

so much confusion in the formula
Turn ratio is N1/N2 or N2/N1.
you have tried both the formula in two questions given here.

Wrong. Because turns ratio is opposite to transformation ratio. Turns ratio = N1/N2 whereas N2/N1 is transformation Ratio.

Turns ratio = n1/n2 = 400/2000 = 0.2.

Transformation ratio = n2/n1.

Here turns ratio is asked not transformation ratio.
