Wrong, squirrel cage is applied to the rotor of three phase induction motor.

Squirrel cage is type of three phase induction motor not ac generator. Squirrel cage and slip ring induction motor (phase wound motor) are types of induction motor. Where as salient pole type ac generator (also called as hydro alternator) and non salient type ac generator (also called as turbo alternator) are types of three phase ac generator.

Yes @Sawan.

95% squirrel cage rotor used in induction motor for less cu loss and better efficiency. Squirrel not used in generator.

The Squirrell cage rotor is used for induction AC motor.

Squirrel cage not applicable for AC generator. It is required for three phase induction motor and synchronous motor. Not required for the alternator, because alternator rotate by prime mover so it gives mechanical energy to dc generator which gives electrical energy to the rotor of alternator via slip ring and brush so rotor of alternator rotate and it produces a rotating magnetic field which cut stator field and produces electricity by Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction and stator winding is star connected to minimise insulation.

The rotor of AC generator is not the same as rotor of squirrel cage induction motor. The term squirrel cage is only applied for induction motor.

Answer:A-True:Three phase squirrel cage induction motors can also be used as generators. For this to work the motor must either be connected to a grid supply or an arrangement of capacitors to provide excitation current. For the motor to work as a generator instead of a motor the rotor must be spun faster than its stator's synchronous speed. This will cause the motor to generate power after building up its residual magnetism.
