Total voltage = V1-V2
= 1.5-1.5
V= 0 v
Total Resistance = R1+R2
= 100+100
=200 Ohm
I=V/R
=0/200
I=0A

In series opposition voltage will subtracted. So v1 - v2 = 1.5 - 1.5 = 0.

When source becomes zero the current through the circuit will also be zero.

Hi, which part of statement states that the two 1.5V cells are opposite to each other? Aren't the batteries connected in series?

So (+)(-)(+)(-)?

Both cells are connected in series with 100 ohm resistance, here Ckt is open therefore no current flow in the Ckt, so current is zero.

Series opposition means voltages will get subtracted V1-V2 = 1.5-1.5 = 0v. When Voltage is 0v. I = 0A.

Two 1.5V cells are opposite to each other so voltage is zero, so current is zero.
