pf of 1 means purely resistive.
pf of 0 means purely reactive.
So, pf = R/Z.
pf of 0 means purely reactive.
So, pf = R/Z.

Atan(X/R)=Atan(0/R) since for a pure resistive ckt X=0.
Therefore Atan@=0 => @=0
power factor,cos@=cos(0)=1
Therefore power factor of resistive ckt is 1.
Similar analysis is done for pure inductive ckt.
