When a resistance is removed from a parallel circuit, the total resistance is increased because for parallel total resistance is less than the minimum resistance and when one resistance is removed the total effective resistance increases.

When the resisters are connected in series resistance of the circuit will be more than the resisters are connected in parellel. Parelled ressister is removed from the circuit the resistance will increase.
