In Johnson counter, the number of states =2 * (number of flip flops).
4 flip flops for 4-bits number.
Numbers of states = 2 * 4 = 8.

Numbers of states = 2 * 4 = 8.

In johnson no.of states are determined by 2N so 2*4 = 8.
