It is not just data bus. It is address/data bus.

XYZ you are wrong. Only data bus is bydirectional because cpu retrieving and writing data on memory or I/O devices. And CPU only generates the address not accept the address.

Hi, Actually data bus is used to carry data from memory only. So, how it could be bidirectional?

Awesomeak47 said:   1 decade ago
No, @Christhuraj data bus also takes inputs as a data as well as fetches memory hence they are bidirectional.

Data bus is bidirectional and address bus is unidirectional.

I think Data bus is not a bidirectional bus.

The address bus and data bus are bidirectional buses.

Address bus is Unidirectional because the microprocessor is addressing a specific memory location. No outside devices can not write into Microprocessor.

Data bus is Bidirectional because the Microprocessor can read data from memory or write data to the memory. Normally Control bus is unidirectional.
