Any N digit number using base B can have B^N possible values (B to the power of N). Since 0 is a possible value, the largest value possible is (B^N) - 1.
Plugging in your values... 2^7 - 1 = 128-1 = 127.
Plugging in your values... 2^7 - 1 = 128-1 = 127.
