As we know serial adder is the sequential circuit, and the conversion time is T conversion = NT that is addition of bit is depend on no of bit so for this reason this is not widely used. And carry look ahead adder is use for fast conversion.

This can be used only for short distance because at long distance transmission the distortion is occur which stops it signal and used a parallell transfer operation which bounds the signal in a particular way.

If we consider serial transfer the operation will be slow. Let us consider the example as binary adder. The output of first adder will gives the input of next adder as the process is contuining like that the more amount of time will be taken. That wise only the serial transfer operation is slow.
