How many unique symbols are used in the decimal number system?

Here it is asked for decimal number system, so the unique symbols will be 10 (i. e 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).
If it is asked unique symbols for binary number system then the answer will be 2 (i. e 0, 1).
If it is asked unique symbols for binary number system then the answer will be 2 (i. e 0, 1).

These are not digital data. Here answer should be 2 i.e 0, 1.
