Surfafce Mount Technology (SMT) is the process where components are mounted on the surface of Printed Circuit Board (PCB).

SMT originally called as Planar Mounting. It is one of the method for placing components on PCB.

Methods for placing components on PCB are:
1. SMT.
2. Through Hole Technology (THT).
3. Solder Printing.
