Because input combinations are 8 which is corresponding to 3 variables.hence 3 select lines are required

As we know that if we assume that input line=n.
And selection line =m.
Then a relation power (2, m) =n must be true. Where power (2, m) =m raised to 2.
According the relation n=8 so m=3.
And selection line =m.

In the case of MUX 2^n is the input line. And the 'n' in power will be our selection line.

There are eight variables so three selection lines are required.

i.e. 2^m = n.
i.e. Here 2^m = 8.
So, m = 3.
So, the final Answer =3.
