When you let SFS lock and unlock your files automatically, the implicit lock will remain in effect until the file is closed and any changes have been committed or rolled back. If you want a lock to remain in effect longer than this, you must explicitly lock the object by entering a CREATE LOCK command before running your program or by issuing a DMSCRLOC routine (Create Lock) within your program.
