Ya it's right.
I think, DB2 comes into market into 2009 or 2010 may be and it's realy helpful to understood because of it's user friendly interface, no need to write queries and all that.

DB2 is very old kind of database brought in bussiness by the IBM long before. Mainly it is used as a DB in Mainframe application developments.

DB2 is database system from IBM. Mostly for Unix and Solaris platforms.R:BASE (or RBASE) was the first relational database program for the PC.

E.f code is the name of the scientist how had given some basic rule of RDBMS. so here E.F code of IBM has no meaning at all.

We can not differenciate both because db2 is a database and dbms is a system to managae database.

DB2 means database 2 or say database version 2. E.F Codd firstly decided to name RDBMS as db2.

IDMS means Integrated Development Management System. It is used for mainframe computers.
