Directions to Solve

The following pie-chart shows the percentage distribution of the expenditure incurred in publishing a book. Study the pie-chart and the answer the questions based on it.

Various Expenditures (in percentage) Incurred in Publishing a Book

6.
If the difference between the two expenditures are represented by 18° in the pie-chart, then these expenditures possibly are
Binding Cost and Promotion Cost
Paper Cost and Royalty
Binding Cost and Printing Cost
Paper Cost and Printing Cost
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Central angle of 18° = ( 18 x 100 ) % of the total expenditure
360

= 5% of the total expenditure.

From the given chart it is clear that:

Out of the given combinations, only in combination (d) the difference is 5% i.e.

Paper Cost - Printing Cost = (25% - 20%) of the total expenditure
= 5% of the total expenditure.

As the question states in degree we can directly find the degree
in order to convert percentage => degree multiply by 18/5.

Paper cost =25% therefore 25*18/5 =90.

Printing cost =20% therefore 20*18/5 =72.

90-72 = 18.

Find the angle of each percent i.e.

Angle of royalty= (15/100) 360 =>54.

Binding= (20/100) 360 =>72.

In this way find all angles and take the difference.

The difference b/w binding and royalty cost is also 5 percent.

So why can't it be the answer.

Please do let me know.

I am bit confused.
