Taking a base as 3000 students in 1995.

In 1996, 3000 + 350 - 250 = 3100,
In 1997, 3100 + 300 - 450 = 2950,
In 1998, 2950 + 450 - 400 = 3000,
In 1999, 3000 + 500 - 350 = 3150.

Hence the total student studying in the year 1999 is 3150.

Change in student's number is with respect to previous year not with '95.

Hence,

3000+(Students Joined school till '99 - Students left school till '99).

3000+((350+300+450+500)-(250+450+400+350)).

3000+150 = 3150.

Initial strength in year 1995 was 3000. And in year 1999, 500 students joined the school. At the same year that is in year 1999 350 students were left. So the total no.of student studying in 1999 is 3000 (Initial strength) + 500 (student joined in year 1999) - 350 (students left) = 3150.

We take year 1995 strength as reference number.
So, 3000+ (500 = total number joined - 350 = total number left) = 3150.
