Sweden joined India’s Shukrayaan Mission to Venus through a Memorandum of Understanding signed between ISRO and the Swedish National Space Agency in May 2026. The collaboration was finalised during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Sweden and focuses on expanding cooperation in planetary exploration. Sweden’s participation includes the development of the Venusian Neutrals Analyser (VNA) by the Swedish Institute of Space Physics. The instrument will study solar wind interactions, atmospheric escape processes, and plasma behaviour around Venus. Shukrayaan is India’s first dedicated mission to Venus and aims to investigate the planet’s atmosphere, volcanic surface, weather systems, and past potential for liquid water.
