The India-AI Impact Summit is scheduled to take place in 2026, marking the first time a global AI summit will be hosted by a nation from the Global South. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) unveiled the official logo and initiatives for the event. The summit will focus on democratizing access to AI while ensuring safe and trusted ecosystems guided by the principles of People, Planet, and Progress. Flagship programs such as UDAAN Pitch Fest, YuvaAI, AI by HER, and the Global Innovation Challenge will encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive participation in shaping AI’s future.

Albania made global history by becoming the first country to appoint an artificial intelligence-powered cabinet minister, named “Diella.” Announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama during the Socialist Party assembly in Tirana, Diella was given the critical responsibility of managing public procurement—a sector often vulnerable to corruption and inefficiency. Unlike human ministers, Diella is a virtual AI avatar integrated into the E-Albania digital governance portal. The role aims to ensure fairness, transparency, and efficiency by reducing human bias and streamlining bureaucratic processes. This groundbreaking initiative places Albania at the forefront of digital governance and sparks worldwide debate on AI in politics.

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) became the recipient of ISRO’s 100th technology transfer agreement, enabling it to independently manufacture Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs). The agreement was signed with the involvement of ISRO, NSIL, and IN-SPACe, marking a milestone in India’s space journey. Under the deal, HAL will receive training and support over 24 months to master SSLV production processes, technology integration, and flight preparedness. This initiative will help India strengthen its self-reliant space ecosystem while capturing opportunities in the rapidly expanding global small-satellite launch market. SSLVs, known for cost-effectiveness and quick turnaround, are crucial for future commercial missions.

Israel successfully launched the Ofek-19 satellite on 2nd September 2025 using a Shavit rocket from the Palmachim Airbase. Ofek-19 is a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)-based reconnaissance satellite designed to provide high-resolution images with sub-half-metre accuracy, offering effective all-weather and day-night surveillance. Its primary role is to monitor regional threats from Iran, Syria, and Hezbollah, significantly strengthening Israel’s defence and intelligence-gathering capabilities. This launch further enhances Israel’s independent space program and highlights its strong security and technological cooperation with the United States, marking a major step in safeguarding national and regional security interests.

India’s first port-based Green Hydrogen Pilot Project was inaugurated at VOC Port in Tamil Nadu by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The project is part of a broader initiative worth over ₹150 crore that also includes a Green Methanol bunkering facility, solar and wind energy projects, development of a multi-cargo berth, improved road infrastructure, and a maritime heritage museum. This milestone strengthens India’s commitment to clean energy and sustainable port operations, making VOC Port a pioneer in integrating renewable energy with maritime infrastructure. The inauguration also coincided with the 154th birth anniversary of freedom fighter VO Chidambaranar in Tuticorin.
