Sikkim will benefit from the ₹993.64 crore approved by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on October 8, 2026, for the development and widening of National Highway-10 (NH-10). The project involves upgrading the Rangpo to Ranipool section into a two-lane corridor, including tunnels, viaducts, bridges, and slope-protection measures to address landslide-prone areas. The highway is vital for transporting defence personnel and military supplies, improving tourism, and facilitating the movement of agricultural and horticultural produce. The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, is responsible for the project. NH-10 connects Siliguri in West Bengal with Gangtok in Sikkim.
