Gujarat became the first state in India to deploy an Artificial Intelligence-based investigation tool named NARIT AI for handling narcotics-related cases. Launched in Gandhinagar on November 4, 2026, the system uses advanced Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) technology to analyse FIRs and assist law enforcement officials. It operates on a secure, closed database to ensure data privacy and reduce errors. The tool provides legal guidance under the NDPS Act, helps identify procedural gaps, and enhances the efficiency of investigations, ultimately aiming to improve conviction rates in drug-related offences.
