The Nagaland government has announced that all schools in the state will have Saturdays off, starting from September 6, 2023. This decision was made by the state's Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, during the State-level Teacher's Day celebration in Kohima on September 5, 2023. The reason for the decision is to give teachers and students a break from the daily grind and to allow them to spend more time with their families and friends. Dr. Yhome said that teachers are not slaves and they need time for their families, while children also need time to relax and play outside of the classroom.
