Jammu and Kashmir has been selected by the Union Ministry of Rural Development for the national award in the best performing category for implementing the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The award will be presented in a ceremony on 19 December 2019 at the National Agricultural Science Complex, Pusa, New Delhi.The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was launched on 25 December 2000 by the Government of India. The scheme aims to provide connectivity to unconnected habitations as part of a poverty reduction strategy.
