Himachal Pradesh was the first state in the country to ban plastic and polythene carry bags in 2009. According to the ban, breach of the law shall be liable for the penalty ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 25,000. There would be a stop for commercial establishments to vendors of using cups, plates, glasses, spoons or any other items made out of thermocol or plastic in the state.
