Odisha's Similipal Tiger Reserve has undertaken a significant conservation effort by translocating a tigress named Jamuna from Maharashtra's Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. This initiative aims to enhance genetic diversity within Similipal's tiger population, addressing concerns about inbreeding due to the reserve's small population. Notably, Similipal is home to the rare pseudo-melanistic or "black" tigers, with 13 out of 24 adult tigers exhibiting this unique characteristic. The translocation, approved by the National Tiger Conservation Authority, marks a crucial step in preserving the genetic health and diversity of Odisha's tiger population.

Rajasthan has launched the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS) 2024 to attract private investment and stimulate economic growth. This initiative offers enhanced financial incentives across various sectors, building upon the previous RIPS 2022. The scheme's introduction precedes the 'Rising Rajasthan' Global Investment Summit 2024, scheduled to take place in Jaipur from December 9 to 11, aiming to draw domestic and international investors. The RIPS 2024 includes benefits for renewable energy projects, such as solar captive power plants, and targets sectors like Aero & Space, Defence, and Agri-Tech. This strategic move positions Rajasthan as a competitive hub for industries and fosters balanced economic development.

The 17th Urban Mobility India Conference and Expo was inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This three-day event focuses on the theme of "Standardization and Optimization" in urban transport. It showcases various initiatives aimed at promoting clean urban mobility, including the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in Ahmedabad, metro networks, and the implementation of electric and CNG buses through the Mukhyamantri Shaheri Bus Parivahan Yojana and the PM eBus Sewa Scheme. These initiatives are crucial for enhancing sustainable transportation in urban areas.

In a major push for rural infrastructure, the Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, inaugurated panchayat projects totalling Rs 7,160 crore. These projects include the construction of 2,615 panchayat buildings and a resource centre. Alongside the buildings, solar panel installations and street light projects are set to enhance energy access and infrastructure across Bihar’s villages. Additional resource centres and completed panchayat buildings further emphasize the state’s commitment to rural development and modernization.

The proposed law would incentivize having more children, with Naidu suggesting only candidates with two or more children be allowed to contest local body elections. This move addresses concerns about the state's ageing population and potential labour shortages. Southern states, including Andhra Pradesh, face significant demographic challenges due to low fertility rates.
