Uttarakhand, known as the "Land of the Gods" (Devbhumi), celebrates its Foundation Day on November 9 to commemorate its formation as a separate state in India. Established in 2000, initially as Uttaranchal and later renamed Uttarakhand in 2007, the state's foundation day honours its cultural and historical significance. The day marks the culmination of a long struggle for statehood, recognizing the region's distinct cultural, geographical, and administrative identity. Uttarakhand's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty make it a unique and significant part of India's diverse landscape. The celebration symbolizes the resilience and pride of the people of Uttarakhand.

Uttar Pradesh's cabinet has greenlit the semiconductor project, attracting significant investments from HCL Group (₹3,706 crore) and Hiranandani Group (₹28,440 crore). The project, spanning 50 acres, will receive a ₹7,037 crore subsidy and additional incentives from the state, subject to central government approval. This development is expected to boost Uttar Pradesh's economy, create jobs, and establish the state as a key player in India's electronics manufacturing sector. The project's location near Jewar Airport will also facilitate logistics and connectivity.

Uttar Pradesh has implemented new guidelines for the appointment of its Director General of Police (DGP), prioritizing independence and stability. A selection committee, led by a retired High Court judge, will oversee the process. The committee comprises state officials, UPSC, and UP Public Service Commission nominees. The rules also mandate a two-year minimum tenure for the DGP, aligning with the 2006 Supreme Court directive. This reform aims to strengthen the police system's integrity, ensure citizen rights, and promote effective governance. Madhya Pradesh has taken a significant step towards women's empowerment by approving a 35% reservation for women in all state government recruitments. The state has also made other key announcements, including the opening of 254 new fertilizer sales centres, the establishment of a 660 MW thermal power plant, and increasing the recruitment age for assistant professors in medical colleges. The Khurja Super Thermal Power Project, a significant addition to India's energy landscape, is situated in Uttar Pradesh. THDC's successful synchronization of Unit#1 with the national grid marks a crucial milestone in the project's development. With a total capacity of 1320 MW, this power plant will provide baseload power, contributing to the region's energy security. As a subsidiary of NTPC Limited under the Ministry of Power, THDC plays a vital role in ensuring a continuous and reliable electricity supply to meet India's growing energy demands.
