Bihar has been officially declared Naxal-free following the surrender of the last armed Maoist, Suresh Koda, in Munger. This marks the end of a long-standing insurgency that began in the 1970s and once severely affected the state, with as many as 23 districts impacted in 2012. Sustained security operations, development initiatives, and strong rehabilitation policies played a significant role in restoring normalcy. Authorities reported 220 arrests and zero Naxal-related incidents during 2025, reflecting the effectiveness of coordinated efforts to eliminate extremist activities and promote peace and stability across the state.

Kerala has proposed the Nativity Card Bill to introduce a permanent photo identity card for individuals born in the state or those with Keralite ancestry. The proposed card aims to serve as authoritative proof of identity for accessing various state services, particularly amid concerns related to citizenship and documentation. The Bill also includes strict penalties for providing false information, including up to three months of imprisonment, a fine of ₹5,000, or both. It is set to be tabled in the State Assembly and is intended to streamline identification processes and strengthen administrative clarity within the state.

The 78th Zomi National Day was celebrated in Manipur, specifically in the Churachandpur district. The event highlighted the cultural unity, resilience, and identity of the Zomi community. During the celebration, Deputy Chief Minister Losi Dikho announced the development of a new turf ground funded by ONGC and assured continued support for the Zomi Council. The foundation stone of the 10th Police Battalion headquarters was laid in Assam, specifically in Kamrup district. The project includes modern infrastructure such as barracks for male and female personnel, residential and operational facilities, a hospital, training center, firing range, surveillance systems, and a sports complex. The development is part of broader efforts to strengthen internal security, curb infiltration, and enhance law and order. Alongside security initiatives, major development plans, including industrial investments and job creation, aim to transform the state into a leading industrial hub in eastern and North-Eastern India.

Bihar approved the construction of a major international airport at Sonepur in Saran district as part of a landmark infrastructure initiative. The project includes a 4,200-metre runway designed to handle wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A380, enabling direct long-haul international flights. Spread over 4,228 acres, the airport aims to enhance connectivity in north Bihar and reduce congestion at Patna’s existing airport. With a land acquisition allocation of ₹1,302 crore and a completion target of 2030, the project is expected to boost trade, tourism, employment, and regional economic development significantly.
