The BJP-led government in Chhattisgarh, under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, is working on introducing a more stringent anti-conversion law to prevent illegal religious conversions. While the state already has the Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion Act, 1968, the new law aims to address issues such as conversions through coercion, inducements, or gatherings under the guise of “faith healing.” This move follows political discussions and allegations regarding foreign-funded NGOs involved in conversion activities. The new law is intended to enforce stricter legal actions against unlawful conversions in the state.

Hockey Jharkhand triumphed in the 15th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2025, claiming their first-ever national title. They defeated the defending champions, Hockey Haryana, in a thrilling final that ended in a 1-1 draw, leading to a penalty shootout. Jharkhand won the shootout 4-3, with contributions from players like Rajni Kerketta, Nirali Kujur, Binima Dhan, and Captain Alebla Rani Toppo. The Lachit Barphukan Police Academy was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Dergaon, Assam. This state-of-the-art facility aims to enhance law enforcement training. It spans 340 acres and includes modern infrastructure such as smart classrooms, a weapon training simulator, research labs, and a modern parade ground.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal has accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of facilitating voter duplication by issuing the same Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) numbers for multiple voters across different states. The issue revolves around EPIC number duplication, which the ECI clarified stems from legacy data errors before the introduction of ERONET.

The Punjab Legislative Assembly has launched a searchable engine that allows access to debates and proceedings from 1947 till the present day. This makes Punjab the first Vidhan Sabha in the country to introduce such an initiative. The engine was developed in collaboration with Punjabi University Patiala, IIIT Hyderabad, and CDAC Noida. This move enhances transparency and public access to legislative proceedings, enabling citizens to easily search for and view the discussions and decisions made in the state assembly over the years.
