Uttar Pradesh has launched a major initiative to distribute 40,521 subsidised solar pumps in FY26 under the PM-KUSUM scheme to promote clean and sustainable irrigation. Farmers can apply through the agriculture department portal until 15 December, with allocation handled through an e-lottery system. A token deposit of ₹5,000 and prior registration are required before the remaining payment is confirmed. The subsidy support ranges from ₹1 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh, depending on the pump category. This initiative aims to encourage renewable energy use, reduce reliance on conventional power, and support farmers with more efficient irrigation options.

Nagaland celebrates its Statehood Day on 1st December each year, commemorating its recognition as the 16th state of India in 1963 following the enactment of the State of Nagaland Act, 1962. The occasion also marks the beginning of the Hornbill Festival, a major cultural event showcasing the state’s tribal heritage, folk traditions, and indigenous arts. A recent Scientific Reports study identified the presence of uranium (U-238) in breast milk samples collected from multiple districts in Bihar. Researchers used ICP-MS technology to test 40 samples, all of which showed detectable levels of uranium, raising concerns about potential exposure risks for infants. The highest concentrations were found in districts like Katihar and Khagaria, reaching up to 5.25 µg/L. These findings highlight the need for thorough investigation into environmental contamination sources, improved water safety measures, and targeted public health interventions to protect vulnerable populations, especially nursing mothers and infants.

The Andhra Pradesh government approved the creation of three new districts Polavaram, Markapuram, and Madanapalle bringing the total number of districts in the state to 29. This restructuring was cleared by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and also included the establishment of five new revenue divisions: Nakkapalli, Addanki, Pileru, Banaganapalle, and Madakasira. Additionally, a new mandal named Pedda Harivanam was created by carving it out of Adoni in Kurnool district. The decision aims to improve administrative efficiency, enhance governance, and ensure better access to public services across the state.

Punjab declared Anandpur Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, and the Galiara surrounding the Golden Temple as holy cities through a unanimous resolution passed in a historic Assembly session held at Anandpur Sahib.
