India achieved a historic milestone by winning its first-ever medal at the AVC Men's Volleyball Cup 2026, which was held in Gandhinagar. The Indian men's volleyball team secured the bronze medal after defeating Bahrain 3–1 in the third-place playoff on June 29, 2026. This remarkable performance also resulted in a significant improvement in India's position in the FIVB World Rankings, with the team moving up 18 places from 60th to 42nd.
