MyBharat, officially known as Mera Yuva Bharat, is a technology-driven platform launched on October 31, 2023, for youth development in India. It partnered with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to launch nationwide digital engagement initiatives ahead of the Commonwealth Games 2030 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. These initiatives included a Torch Design Contest, CWG Reel Challenge, and CWG 2030 Quiz. The platform aims to encourage youth participation in sports, creativity, and nation-building activities through digital outreach and engagement programmes across the country.

Faustino Oro, a young chess prodigy from Argentina, achieved global recognition by becoming the second youngest grandmaster in chess history at the age of 12. He secured his final grandmaster norm during the Sardinia World Chess Festival held in Italy. Oro also became one of only a few players worldwide to earn the prestigious GM title before turning 13 years old. Earlier, he had already made history by becoming the youngest International Master and the first under-12 player to cross the 2500 ELO rating mark. His achievement reflects the growing rise of exceptionally talented young chess players in international competitions.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) lifted the ban on Belarus on May 7, 2026, allowing Belarusian athletes to participate under their national flag at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Belarusian teams and officials will also be included in the opening ceremony and official medal standings. In contrast, Russia continues to remain suspended because the Russian Olympic Committee unlawfully absorbed sports organisations from occupied Ukrainian territories. Russian athletes are only permitted to compete as “Individual Neutral Athletes” without national symbols. The decision reflects changing international sports policies and varying stances among global sporting federations regarding participation restrictions.

The 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026 is scheduled to be held in New Delhi from July 27 to August 2, 2026, at the Thyagraj Stadium. The event is being jointly organised by the Government of Delhi and the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI). Players from more than 35 Commonwealth nations, including England, Australia, Canada, South Africa, and Singapore, are expected to participate. The championship aims to strengthen India’s sports infrastructure and aligns with the Vision 2036 Olympics mission. India has previously hosted major Commonwealth sporting events, including the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

Seven-year-old Ishank Singh from Ranchi, Jharkhand, created a world record by swimming across the 29-km Palk Strait from Sri Lanka to India on April 30, 2026. He completed the challenging open sea route from Talaimannar in Sri Lanka to Dhanushkodi in Tamil Nadu in 9 hours and 50 minutes. The achievement was officially recognised by the Universal Records Forum (URF), which awarded him the title of the Youngest and Fastest Palk Strait Swimmer. During the swim, he received security support from the Sri Lankan Navy and the Indian Coast Guard. His training for the endurance challenge was conducted at Dhurwa Dam in Ranchi under the guidance of coaches Aman Kumar Jaiswal and Bajrang Kumar.
