Emmerson Mnangagwa was re-elected as President of Zimbabwe in the August 2023 election. He won 52.6% of the vote, defeating Nelson Chamisa of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), who received 44% of the vote. The election was marred by allegations of irregularities, including voter intimidation and vote-buying. The CCC has rejected the results and has called for a recount. However, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has said that there is no evidence to support the allegations of fraud.
