The 1st meeting of the Working Group on making India, USD 5 Trillion Economy was held on March 15, 2018 in New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu and was attended by representatives from NITI Aayog and other industry bodies including Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). The objective of Working Group is to chart out a timeline for achieving the goal of making Indian economy a USD 5 trillion economy from the current USD 2.6 trillion economy. Key points discussed at the meeting included need for creating appropriate physical and social infrastructure to accommodate the aspirations of India's millennial population.
