Indian Grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi secured the WR Chess Masters title by defeating France's Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in an Armageddon game, following two draws in the classical chess final. This victory propelled Arjun's live Elo rating to 2796, just shy of the elite 2800 mark. At 21, Arjun demonstrated exceptional skill, outmaneuvering strong opponents, including fellow Indian Grandmasters Vidit Gujrathi and R. Praggnanandhaa. Arjun Vajpai achieved a remarkable milestone on October 9, 2024, by becoming the first Indian to successfully summit Mt. Shishapangma, one of the world's 14 peaks over 8,000 meters.
