IndusInd Bank appointed Santosh Kumar as its Deputy Chief Financial Officer (CFO) starting on April 18, 2025. This appointment follows the end of Arun Khurana's term as the acting CFO. The move is part of the bank’s efforts to strengthen its leadership amid financial challenges, including issues with bad loans in the microfinance sector and discrepancies in accounting for currency derivatives. As Deputy CFO, Santosh Kumar will oversee the finance and accounts functions while the bank continues to search for a permanent CFO. Union Minister George Kurian inaugurated key fisheries projects under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) in Puducherry. These initiatives aim to enhance India's fisheries sector, which has seen remarkable growth with fish production increasing from 95 lakh tons to 184 lakh tons over the past decade. A significant aspect of the project includes equipping 2,300 fishing boats with transponders to provide updates on fish availability, offer emergency assistance, and alert fishermen when nearing international waters. Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai has been designated to become the 52nd Chief Justice of India following the retirement of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna on May 13, 2025. Dr. Ajit Singh achieved a groundbreaking feat in the field of neurosurgery by removing a 17 cm intramedullary ependymoma from the spinal cord of a 21-year-old patient. The tumour extended from the C2 cervical vertebra down to the fifth thoracic vertebra, making the procedure exceptionally complex and rare. This accomplishment has been recognized globally and recorded in the International Book of Records, highlighting Dr. Singh’s exceptional skill and placing India prominently in the international neurosurgical community.

Sudarsan Pattnaik, a renowned sand artist from Odisha and a Padma Shri awardee, has made history by becoming the first Indian to win the prestigious Fred Darrington Sand Master Award. The award was presented to him at the Sandworld 2025 International Sand Art Festival held in Dorset, England. Known for his intricate and socially impactful sand sculptures, Pattnaik's work has gained global recognition.
