The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is set to launch the 'Gramoday Sankalp' magazine, aiming to highlight the theme “Viksit Bharat and Role of Panchayats.” This initiative seeks to disseminate best practices and innovative grassroots approaches, with support from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Policy Planning Cell.

India holds the 82nd position in the Henley Passport Index for 2024, allowing visa-free entry to 58 countries. The Henley Passport Index ranks passports based on the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. Singapore leads the 2024 index, offering visa-free access to 195 destinations. India shares its 82nd rank with Senegal and Tajikistan, highlighting its moderate global mobility compared to other nations. This ranking reflects changes in visa policies and international relations, impacting the travel freedom of passport holders.

The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) at NITI Aayog and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) partnered on July 22 to develop joint innovation programs in the Global South. This partnership aims to leverage India’s innovation models for similar developing countries, enhance intellectual property awareness, and foster inclusive and sustainable economic growth. WIPO’s involvement underscores its commitment to integrating youth in the global IP ecosystem and promoting innovation and creativity to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The PM Surya Ghar scheme mandates the 100% solarisation of all government buildings in India by 2025. Ministries have been instructed to utilize rooftop solar systems through CAPEX or RESCO models, with Public Sector Undertakings aiding in the deployment. Notably, NHPC and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited have signed a pact for implementation, although no central financial assistance is provided.

The Shramik Basera Scheme 2024, launched by the Gujarat state government, aims to provide temporary housing facilities to financially unstable individuals, specifically targeting labourers and construction workers. The scheme will establish 17 housing structures across various cities, offering affordable accommodation for just INR 5 per day. This initiative is designed to improve the standard of living for these workers, ensuring they have secure and affordable housing while working in different locations.
