India has set an ambitious goal to achieve 500 GW of clean energy by 2030. This aligns with the country’s efforts to enhance sustainability and promote renewable energy in sectors such as solar, wind, hydrogen, and batteries. Early achievements, like crossing 200 GW ahead of schedule, showcase India's commitment to reaching this milestone.

The government has prioritized the development of Inland Waterways with a massive investment of ₹50,000 crore over five years. This initiative includes significant measures like the Riverine Community Development Scheme to improve the lives of coastal communities and the deployment of 1,000 Green vessels. Inland waterways play a vital role in reducing the burden on rail and road networks, offering a sustainable and efficient mode of transportation that aligns with environmental and economic goals.

The Z-Morh Tunnel, a 6.5-kilometer-long bi-directional tunnel, was inaugurated in Jammu and Kashmir by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Built at an altitude of approximately 8,652 feet on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway, it ensures all-weather connectivity between Sonamarg and Ladakh. Constructed at a cost of ₹2,400 crore, the tunnel reduces travel time from over two hours to just 15 minutes, bypassing avalanche-prone areas. It is expected to transform Sonamarg into a year-round tourist destination, boost the local economy, and enhance regional development. This project also complements the ongoing construction of the Zoji La Tunnel, further strengthening connectivity in the Himalayan region.

The Mega Entrepreneurship Development Conclave was inaugurated in Pune by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh. The event emphasized advancements in the livestock sector, featuring the launch of 40 livestock projects worth ₹545 crore. This conclave aimed to bring together various stakeholders, address sectoral challenges, and foster entrepreneurship to drive growth and innovation in the livestock industry, contributing to broader economic development.

Dr Jitendra Singh announced the establishment of a Regional Meteorological Centre in Jammu to enhance weather forecasting and related services in the region. Collaborative agreements with institutions such as Jammu University and SKUAST aim to advance research in meteorological sciences. With this initiative, Jammu and Kashmir now have double the number of Automated Weather Stations, reflecting significant progress in meteorological infrastructure. These developments are part of the IMD's 150th-anniversary celebrations, concluding on January 15, 2025, with PM Modi as the chief guest.
