The theme for the International Day for Women in Maritime 2025 is "An Ocean of Opportunities for Women." This theme reflects a global push to promote gender balance and inclusive growth in the maritime sector. The central government has introduced a 4% reservation in the allocation of residential housing for persons with disabilities (PwD). The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati witnessed a 7.67% rise in passenger traffic, reaching 6.57 million in FY 2024-25. The e-Zero FIR initiative was launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on May 20, 2025, as part of efforts to enhance India’s response to cyber financial fraud. This tech-driven system, currently piloted in Delhi, automatically converts high-value cybercrime complaints (above ₹10 lakh) filed through the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal or helpline into Zero FIRs, speeding up investigation and law enforcement action. By reducing delays in FIR registration, the initiative aims to strengthen cybercrime detection and prosecution, addressing the growing challenge of online financial fraud in India. The system requires complainants to visit the cybercrime police station within three days to formalize the FIR.
