Cochin International Airport Ltd is set to become India’s first airport operator to introduce hydrogen-powered buses for passenger transportation, marking a major milestone in sustainable aviation practices. The initiative is being implemented through a Memorandum of Agreement with the Kerala Hydrogen Valley Innovation Cluster Foundation under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. As part of this green mobility project, three hydrogen fuel cell buses will be procured within a period of 12 months, with total funding capped at ₹8.7 crore, reinforcing CIAL’s leadership in clean energy adoption.

Gujarat launched the Mukhyamantri Gramotthan Yojana to promote urban-style infrastructure and amenities in rural areas. The initiative was inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel from Bhadran in Anand district. In its first phase, the scheme covers 114 taluka-headquarter villages and focuses on improving essential facilities such as roads, drainage systems, solar street lighting, and e-Gram services. Additionally, foundation stones were laid for 2,666 Gram Panchayat Ghar-cum-Talati Awas buildings with a total investment of ₹663 crore, reflecting the state’s commitment to strengthening rural governance and infrastructure development.

The CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography inaugurated its Shore-Based Laboratory in Visakhapatnam to enhance India’s capabilities in coastal and ocean research. The facility focuses on studying the Eastern Coastal Margin, which is known for its geological diversity and rich potential in hydrocarbons, oil, gas, and seabed minerals influenced by Himalayan sediment deposits. The laboratory is also envisioned as a hub for skill development, innovation, and startup support, encouraging young scientists and researchers to contribute to India’s growing marine and ocean economy while strengthening scientific infrastructure along the eastern coastline.

The inauguration of India’s first Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Advocate Training and Research Centre took place in Navi Mumbai, specifically at Taloja. The centre has been established by the Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council with the objective of strengthening the legal profession by integrating legal education with practical courtroom training. The event was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and attended by senior members of the judiciary. The centre is expected to play a key role in enhancing professional competence among advocates and honouring the legacy of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.

The National Commission for Women observed its 34th Foundation Day on 31st January, marking over three decades of its role as India’s apex statutory body for safeguarding women’s rights. Established in 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990, the NCW focuses on reviewing constitutional and legal safeguards, addressing grievances, and recommending policy reforms. The 34th Foundation Day event emphasized women’s health as a critical pillar of empowerment under the theme “Swasthya hi Sashaktikaran,” reinforcing the link between health, social equity, and nation-building while highlighting the Commission’s continuing relevance.
