Iceland is on high alert as an unprecedented seismic swarm, with 800 earthquakes in 14 hours, has raised concerns about a possible volcanic eruption in the Reykjanes peninsula. The Iceland Met Office has warned of a "considerable" likelihood of a volcanic eruption in the coming days, leading to the declaration of a state of emergency.

The 14th International Conference of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) under the Paris Principles was organized by the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) in Copenhagen, Denmark from 6-8 November 2023. The conference was held on the theme “Torture and Other Abuses: Role of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs)”. It brought together over 85 NHRIs from around the world to discuss the role of NHRIs in preventing and combating torture and other ill-treatment.
