India secured an impressive 7th place in the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) during COP-28 in Dubai, highlighting its excellence in renewable energy and low greenhouse gas emissions. The primary focus of COP28 is the implementation of the Paris Agreement adopted in 2015. This agreement aims to limit global warming well below 2 degrees Celsius, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels. Discussions will revolve around assessing progress towards achieving these goals, reviewing national climate action plans, and enhancing ambition for future commitments.

The World Soil Day was formally established on December 5, 2014, by the UN General Assembly, recognizing the late King of Thailand's commitment to sustainable soil management. The theme for 2023 is “Soil and Water, a Source of Life.”

The initiative launched at COP28, known as "Green Rising," is a collaboration between UNICEF's Generation Unlimited and India's Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change. It aims to empower youth in meaningful grassroots environmental actions through the YuWaah campaign.
