The Isai Kudil scheme was launched in Puducherry to enhance music and dance education in government schools. Supported by Bharathiar University, this initiative includes purchasing 50 musical instruments and setting up a musical hut at Chinnatha Government Girls Higher Secondary School. The scheme offers music classes twice a week for two hours, with tailored syllabi for different class levels. South India's first Adivasi library, ‘Kaanu,’ is scheduled to open in Chamarajanagar, Karnataka, on August 25. Located at the Institute of Public Health, this library is dedicated to the research and documentation of tribal cultures. It houses 1,200 books and papers focusing on South Indian forest tribes, such as the Jenu Kuruba and Soliga. ‘Kaanu’ aims to support Adivasi scholars and promote the preservation and understanding of tribal knowledge and traditions, marking a significant step in the recognition and celebration of tribal heritage in the region.
