Veronica Michelle Bachelet, former President of Chile, has been honoured with the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament, and Development 2024. Her work in advancing human rights, promoting peace, and advocating for gender equality has earned her this prestigious recognition. The selection was made by a distinguished jury led by Shivshankar Menon, reflecting her global impact in fostering equitable and peaceful development.

Justice Murdu Fernando was sworn in as Sri Lanka's 48th Chief Justice on December 2, 2024, becoming the second woman to hold this esteemed position. Her career spans over 30 years, including roles as Deputy Solicitor General, Additional Solicitor General, and Supreme Court Justice since 2018. Her appointment, approved by the Constitutional Council and formalized by President Anura Dissanayake, marks a significant milestone in the nation’s judiciary.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the first woman and first African to lead the WTO, was reappointed for a second term. Her reappointment was expedited to avoid uncertainties linked to potential political disruptions.

Vijay Chandok has taken over as the Managing Director and CEO of National Securities Depository Ltd (NSDL), India’s first securities depository. With a notable track record, including his tenure as MD & CEO of ICICI Securities and his role as Executive Director on the board of ICICI Bank, he brings extensive experience in financial management. His leadership comes as NSDL achieves a significant milestone of ₹500 lakh crore in assets under custody.

Amit Garg, HPCL's Director (Marketing), was recommended for the CMD position by the MoPNG's Search-cum-Selection Committee. With over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, including expertise in sourcing, logistics, and sales, Garg has demonstrated significant leadership capabilities. He assumed the Director (Marketing) role in December 2023 and participated in the CMD selection process, which concluded on November 13, 2024.
