File Transfer Protocol:

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. FTP is a standard network protocol used to transfer files between computers (a client and server) over a TCP/IP network. It is a function of the Application layer and built on a client-server architecture. Client controls the conversation, while the server transmits the file content.
