Hard disk consist of multiple circular disks called platters which are supported by middle stem (bar) called spindle. Platters are are divided into circular tracks and sectors. HDD is block addressable disk, data can be accessed only with blocks of data, not in bytes format. To access block from hard disk, we require <head, cylinder, sector>. Where head refers to platter number (in case of single sided platter). Cylinder is formed by tracks on each platter that is on each other (like cylindrical shape formed by tracks on each platter which are above and below each other).

Hard disk consist both circular and sector. First part is known as circular and the second part is sector.
