At the time of booting, Computer fetches the instructions from the Read Only Basic Input Output system. When you power on the CPU it performs the post function. So this operation starts from the BOIS.

But all the chips in the motherboard is maintained the BIOS. BIOS is the fist stage after turning on the computer it is also called Firmware.
