EAROM or Electrically Alterable Read-Only Memory is a memory chip that can be erased and reprogrammed only up to a limited number of times. To erase the content, the chip has to be treated to an electrical charge. EAROM is also referred to as EEPROM.

Most typical of the nonvolatile memories are : electrically alterable read only memory (EAROM) and electrically erasable programmable read only memory (EEPROM) devices.
