Scratchpad memory or cache memory : is a high-speed internal memory of CPU used for temporary storage of calculations, data, and other work in progress. It is a special high-speed memory circuit used to hold small items of data for rapid retrieval. It is a specialized storage element in the processor unit of a computer.
