Long-Long time ago when we are small, we use cassettes. This is a box like a thing which contains songs or sometimes movies.
Any one who did operate this cassette, know that we can't go directly from song no 1 to song no 10. We have to go to 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 songs to rich 10th song.
Cassettes are built like that. The cassette has information in a long tread this tread is move forward and the information is read by!

Tape is characterized by sequential access to data. While tape can provide a very high data transfer rate for streaming long contiguous sequences of data, it takes in the 10s of seconds to reposition the tape head to an arbitrarily chosen place on the tape. In contrast, hard disk technology can perform the equivalent action in 10s of milliseconds (3 orders of magnitude faster) and can be thought of as offering random access to data.

Because cassette use magnetic tape for storing data, and data stored in sequential order from magnetic tape, so cassette also accessing data in sequential order.
