The settling velocity of a particle in a sedimentation tank depends on The surface area.

Efficiency is nothing but the performance of the sedimentation tank. It is maximum when the maximum amount of suspended particles in the raw water are separated. In sedimentation tanks, efficiency purely depends upon the settling velocity and overflow velocity.
Efficiency of Sedimentation Tank (efficiency) = (Vs/Vo) x 100.
Vs = settling velocity of the particle.
Vo = overflow velocity.
Efficiency of Sedimentation Tank (efficiency) = (Vs/Vo) x 100.
Vs = settling velocity of the particle.
Vo = overflow velocity.

Effeciency doesnot depends upon depth of the sedimentation tank but it depends only upon surface area.
